Once the realization of what had just transpired had settled in, we were all very shaken. Outboard cameras had captured everything, and we reviewed the footage that Hyosuke keyed up on the main viewing screen.
Where we had settled was obviously some sort of solitary docking bay. We were the only ship in the rather spacious hold, but figures like the ones we had spoken to had flown around us the entire time, examining our ship and writing things down on what looked like holographic clip boards with long, charcoal colored fingers.
The footage and conversations were sent back to Earth, along with a basic report from Hyosuke about the translators. While we were waiting for a reply I drifted the ship around the system, designated Alpha 1, and looked for the next planet in orbit.
Its a little bit bigger than Earth, and the thick yellow-green atmosphere blocks our view of the surface. White cloud masses swirl within the atmosphere, and a giant whitish swirl seems to go around it, much like the big red storm on Jupiter. Elizabeth said that we might be able to go down onto the surface. Bio suits would protect us from the poisonous air, but otherwise we should be fine, if a bit sluggish due to the extra pound or two of gravity.
Janet also plotted the system with Hyosuke. There are only five planets, and Little Blue is the fourth from the sun. This one, Andrei called it Venara because it sort of looks like Venus, is the third. We're going to release the rover pod after everybody sleeps and if the data is good, we'll head down to the surface ourselves. Here's to hoping I can set foot on another planet, this is Jack Babylon, signing off.

My ongoing mission is to explore the greatest reaches of our galaxy in the galactic cruiser, the Cthulu. This is my journal.

First Contact
The aliens were not what we were expecting. As we stood looking out of the front portal three platforms drifted down in front of us. On each platform stood a figure completely covered in robes. We could see nothing of their physical structure.
They attempted to contact us, and John spent nearly an hour attempting to communicate. Finally, John and Andrei went up to the loading dock and put on their suits. Elizabeth did a scan on the air in the docking bay- obviously something poisonous. The floating aliens rose up out of sight, presumably to talk to John. More time passed as John spent time trading languages with the other aliens. It seemed ages, although only two hours had passed.
Finally John and Andrei came back, bearing a few objects and explained that they were apparently translators, and were now updated with our own language. Hyosuke took his time uploading the foreign program, but when it was installed it managed to assimilate to our system. Interesting.
Once that was taken care of, we had the liberty to talk to the others for as long as we wanted. Apparently they were also exploring the galaxy, although they had been up to it far longer than we had- almost seventy of our years. Apparently they had already passed our solar system before, but didn't bother any landings; apparenly when they passed us by they felt like we wouldn't be able to take the impact of life out there. But here we are now, and a bit more prepared for exploring with the translator technology they were all too willing to hand over.
It's odd though. They seemed really nice, and helpful too. They even gave us the coordinates for their home planet so we could stop by sometime and see what they've accomplished. And while it seems sketchy with how nice they were, I can't help but feeling that they mean well.
My paranoia and speculation is just because I'm tired, though. They finally let us leave and with a flash, they were gone. Now tomorrow we will continue our exploration of this solar system. This is Jack Babylon, signing off.

Partay in space!
Earth replied to the data we sent! The mission is a success!
It was here that we decided to really celebrate our success in being the first crew of the first galactic space cruiser. It was here that we all got terribly silly (there is no alcohol on board, of course. That would be asking for disaster) and in our dancing missed the thing that drifted up close to us.
We don't know how long it was there, but we finally learned of its presence when our communications were seized and a horrible, gravelly voice spilled out all over the ships speakers.
None of us knew what to do at first. Then John and Hyosuke ran onto the bridge. Andrei turned the music off and the last of us ran with him to the bridge as well, where John was sending a message to the other ship directly in front of us.
The alien ship. Or I suppose from their perspective we are the aliens. They've apparently been flying around this system for some time now. Regardless it was apparent that the aliens knew we couldn't communicate.
There was a very long silence. From what I could see of their ship through the front portal i can guess that it's massive, at least three times our size. I could see a little bit of a cylindrical design with a large wing on the bottom. Other than that, nothing.
An apparently hand-drawn diagram of our ship docking theirs was sent, along with a few scribbles in an alien dialect. We considered our options, and eventually decided to go for it. Not following their directions and attempting to make a break for it could result in them shooting us. Maybe they think we're criminals?
Following the directions we flew to a large portal that opened in the side of their ship and set the Cthulu down in a sort of roped cradle. Presumably we're going to meet them now, so I'm going to have to go. Luck be with us, this is Jack Babylon, signing off.
