First Contact

The aliens were not what we were expecting. As we stood looking out of the front portal three platforms drifted down in front of us. On each platform stood a figure completely covered in robes. We could see nothing of their physical structure.

They attempted to contact us, and John spent nearly an hour attempting to communicate. Finally, John and Andrei went up to the loading dock and put on their suits. Elizabeth did a scan on the air in the docking bay- obviously something poisonous. The floating aliens rose up out of sight, presumably to talk to John. More time passed as John spent time trading languages with the other aliens. It seemed ages, although only two hours had passed.

Finally John and Andrei came back, bearing a few objects and explained that they were apparently translators, and were now updated with our own language. Hyosuke took his time uploading the foreign program, but when it was installed it managed to assimilate to our system. Interesting.

Once that was taken care of, we had the liberty to talk to the others for as long as we wanted. Apparently they were also exploring the galaxy, although they had been up to it far longer than we had- almost seventy of our years. Apparently they had already passed our solar system before, but didn't bother any landings; apparenly when they passed us by they felt like we wouldn't be able to take the impact of life out there. But here we are now, and a bit more prepared for exploring with the translator technology they were all too willing to hand over.

It's odd though. They seemed really nice, and helpful too. They even gave us the coordinates for their home planet so we could stop by sometime and see what they've accomplished. And while it seems sketchy with how nice they were, I can't help but feeling that they mean well.

My paranoia and speculation is just because I'm tired, though. They finally let us leave and with a flash, they were gone. Now tomorrow we will continue our exploration of this solar system. This is Jack Babylon, signing off.
